DASHBOARD

The Little Sponges Dashboard allows educators to see everything their students are doing on the platform. For example, teachers can see when students logged into the program, which lessons they are worked on,  and how much time it took them to complete a particular lesson.

Also, teachers can see the percent of lessons completed for each course. Since Little Sponges enables personalized learning students are able to practice at home on their own in addition to using the program in the classroom. Some students may get ahead in the course by completing more activities and lessons in the program.

The Dashboard allows you to see where each student is at in the program. This tool is great the classroom management since you can see in real time what each student is doing and make sure that they are staying on task.

When students take a quiz, teachers can see the scores on the Dashboard.  They can also click on the Statistics and see which questions students answered correctly and which were answered incorrectly.

For example, the image below shows that the student clicked on the word “shark” instead of “fish” when taking the reading quiz in the Ocean Adventure unit.  The green color indicates the correct answer and the red color highlights the answer that was selected by the student.  This lets the teacher know that this student does not know how to read this word yet and will need to review the reading lessons in this learning adventure again.

GRADEBOOK

Gradebook allows teachers to see how each student is grasping the content and vocabulary and assess their level of mastery for each Adventure Unit and each skill level (listening, speaking, reading and writing).  Also, if you choose to use our pre and post assessments, you will see the scores for the assessments in the Gradebook.

As soon as students finish quizzes and assessments, teachers can see their scores in the Gradebook by going to the Gradebook tab and selecting the skill level they would like to view.  Students whose scores are green may move forward in the adventure to practice more difficult skills.  Students whose scores are highlighted in yellow and red need more practice and should review previous learning activities to improve. They may also need to work with the teacher 1:1 or in a small group to help them catch up with the rest of the class.  Teachers may also assign videos and games as homework to give students additional time to practice. If you would like to do that, simply share the link to the activity in your LMS (i.e. Canvas, Google Classroom) or email it to students.
